Need to create an online event registration system

I'm looking for online event registration/management tools. Can be hosted or an app that I can use on my own server (prefer the latter).
Should allow for easy registration form building, tie it to secure payment system, and be easy to export data for printing name tags and other such event tasks.

My local Meeting Planning International Chapter uses

I have no experience with it though.

I know people who have used cvent and they have spoken highly of it. They host it, no option for you to have it on your server.

For sporting events, etc, our NPO uses Active.com, and it's been very successful. Also hosted.
The upside of them hosting is redundancy should there be a problem. :)

EventWax is a relatively new, hosted system that looks very promising. I am considering using it for a few upcoming events.

It isn't perfect, and it's web-based not something you can have on your server. But it does most things that you need it to do and does them really well. They are also very good about helping you make it do anything that you need it to do but it maybe doesn't want to do.
Downside is cost [I got my account years ago and the prices now are way higher] Also, to link your credit card processing in they charge a high initial set-up fee. So if you are doing a one-off event you may want to look into something else.
