Recently I have discovered the joys of brown rice. Brand recommendations and a place to buy in NYC near PATH?

Brown rice from Lundberg pretty good; you should be able to find it at D'Ags. I'd also recommend Shiloh Farms' product, but you'd have to see if the Health-4-You Market (scroll down) carries it.

I live in NYC but I get my brown rice from bulkfoods.com. Not the prettiest site, but very consistent quality, bigger range of choices than a grocery store, excellent prices, and no lugging bags of rice on the subway (or PATH).

The frozen brown rice from Trader Joe's is pretty good. Microwave it, and add it to their Lentil soup for a yummy dinner high in fiber and healthy for you too.

There is finally a Trader Joe's in Manhattan, about a block from Union Square.

I dunno about Jersey City, but here in Hoboken on Washington Street (which is, technically speaking, near the PATH), there are a few decent health food stores where you can buy in bulk.

Organic brown basmati is my favorite rice. I don't know about specific brands -- I just get whatever I grab off the shelf or out of the bin, and it's always good.

Also, if you're just getting into brown rice, you might also love quinoa.
