turn on, plugin, drop out

I'm looking for two Wordpress plugins: One that provides the same sort of comment editing tools you see with the MeFi comment box (bold, italic, link), and one that lets you limit the total number of comments shown on a page to, e.g., the last 25 made.

I'm trying to help a blog with a lot of HTML-illiterate readers and 300+ comment liveblog posts to improve usability and cut back on the bandwidth.

Plugin One should be self-explanatory. Plugin Two would make it so that instead of listing every comment on a post page there'd be a message like, "300 comments, last 25 shown. [link]View all comments[/link]" or something to that effect.

I can code up the plugins myself, but I'm lazy and don't want to reinvent the wheel if I can.

TinyMCE can give you what you need for the text entry (and more besides) though it's not a Wordpress plugin specifically, it's javascript that can be used on any HTML form.

I have used TinyMCE in a few different places, and it's configurability is top notch.

As far as getting it into Wordpress, if you can code plugins, you can hopefully figure out how to hook this in to the requisite textareas. I can't help with that as I've never been near Wordpress.
