Decemberists DRM?

So I bought the new Decemberists' record The Crane Wife and iTunes (7.0.2) on OS 10.4.8 won't recognize it; just spits the CD tray back out. This is making me really angry(!!) as I'm thinking it's some DRM issue. Anyone else have this experience?
Happened to me with a Paul Simon album in the spring. I concluded it wasn't DRM, because on certain Macs it loaded - often after spinning weirdly for a long time.

I should have mentioned: since you can't play it in iTunes, you'll need to hijack it by playing each track in something like VLC player or Quicktime.

It's not DRM. I have the cd and didn't have that prob with iTunes. Try booting with the CD inside and see if you can open iTunes and play it that way.
And crapples, there's no D in Devendra's last name.

What do you get if you double click on the CD in the Finder? The Finder (at least in Tiger) reads audio CDs as a volume full of AIFF's which can be copied like any other file. If you can't read it in the Finder, something deeper is going on.

In system prefs, turn off the open iTunes when audio cd is inserted option. This should allow you to see the cd in the finder and work with it there.

Correction accepted. Don't love the album all that much either, it's more my wife's taste.
