Name that band?

Has anyone heard of a band or singer called something like "Sondra Leche"?

I asked someone in a museum store in NYC what music was playing, and I thought that was what he said, but I can't find anything online about it. I tried some other spellings, but nothing.
The music was kind of folk-ish, I think, and the words were in English.

Sondre Lerche is great. I suspect, based on your description, you were hearing the album Two Way Monologue. His most recent release, The Duper Sessions (released with the Faces Down Quartet) is a nice, quiet jazzy album.

Sondre rules! First saw him open for Elvis Costello, and got to see him play solo at the Hiro Ballroom here in NYC last month. Truly great show.

YouTube the hell out of him. You will enjoy.

Sondre Lerche (the "-che" pronounced "-kay" I think) is an extraordinary singer. For people who haven't heard him, his music is a combination of melodic 1960s pop, Chet Baker-like cool jazz crooning, and a slight touch of bossa nova.

Remarkably young, too. When he first started getting some attention, I think he was still a teenager.
