Where can I get the best loft bed for my money in NY?
Hi,
I'm looking for one full and one twin loft bed. Does anyone have any recommendations? I looked at ikea. They had some ok stuff, but I am going to get gouged by the shipping cost as I don't have a car. Craigslist has good deals, but I have no real way of picking anything up.
I've found these
1
2
3
company's.
Can anyone recommend a place in ny that I can get something relatively good for relatively cheap? I will also need it delivered, so if it has free delievery in Manhattan, that would be great!
if you have a loft bed that you'd like to sell and can bring it to my house, I'll most likely buy it. My email is in my profile, thanks

On Craigslist, look under "Services" in the "Labor/Move" category, and you'll find many, many ads for "man with a van" or the like. I've used several of them (ask for references if that makes you feel more comfortable) and had nothing but good experiences. Basically, once you find a bed you want, call one of these guys, and you can have him meet you at the seller's place. He'll help you load it into the van (or sometimes do all the work), generally will give you a ride back to your place, and then help you get it into your apartment. That's how I've gotten nearly all of my CL purchases home, and it's definitely cheaper than buying new or paying for a formal delivery service.
Additionally, if what you want from Ikea isn't too big (it probably will be in this case if you need a mattress, but this is good to keep in mind for the future), there's a free shuttle to and from the store in Elizabeth, NJ from the Port Authority.

Best answer: Well, I've purchased from Big Apple Futons - your first link. The top loft on that page, I'm pretty sure, a full. It was unfinished wood - nothing fancy - but solid and sturdy.
They deliver totally free within the 5 boroughs of the city, and for a pretty reasonable fee elsewhere.

Best answer: I don't have any personal experience with their loft beds, but I purchased a platform bed from Gothic Cabinet Craft about 3 weeks ago, and I've been really happy with it. Delivery was included and it was a very reasonably price and well constructed bed.
Here are the loft beds that they have for sale.

don't buy the ikea metal frame loft bed if you weigh anything over 140 -- that thing shakes like crazy and is totally unstable. I slept in it for about a week and then switched to the couch.
