What is rs6.net and why is it in so many URLs online (google search), that end up redirecting to where you actually want to go?

It's a bounce-through service with a marketing bent, similar to tinyURL, but for tracking clickthroughs.

A Netsol whois links rs6.net to roving.com, aka constantcontact.com - read a bit there and you'll get the gist of what they do.

I'm on a list where links appear as rs6.net links - it just means the list owner is using them to track how many people on the list click the links included in the messages.

The first link in your search points to http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp, a "personal email marketing company" (IE: probably a UCE provider). The URLs are web/email bugs generated by their software.

constant contact is an e-newsletter service provider. i spent some time with one of their reps for business purposes, and (as far as i know) they're legit, not UCE. which means they make an effort to stay on ISP white lists, ensure your lists are opt-in, etc.

we ended up going with another company so i'm not sure if their use of rs6.net is exclusive or not, but as stated above they use it to track clickthroughs.
