Dinosaur Bone Cartoon

Can you help me find a cartoon drawing I first saw in a book or magazine at least 10 years ago, which shows a small dog digging up a bone? Attached to the bone, buried under the ground, is shown the rest of the tail and the entire skeleton of a large dinosaur.

I remember a drawing exactly like that, but I'm pretty sure it was in an elementary school textbook (perhaps a magazine reprinted it, or there are two versions?)

That sounds very familiar alright. Perhaps something from 'The Far Side'?

I feel like it was in Mad Magazine, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

Also, perhaps it is a gag used by many cartoonists?

Was the small dog a weiner dog? If it was I'm thinking it was in The Far Side.

Echoing the Far Side. I believe this one can be found in The Prehistory of The Far Side.

If its not The Far Side, try the New Yorker, not Charles Adams I don't think, but the modern guy that does Charles Adams style stuff maybe?
