Bending Platinum band?

My fiance has a platinum engagement ring and the bottom seems to be warping due to plat being a soft metal. We are not sure why this is happening.

It is possible the ring is slightly too large for her finger but it needs to be larger so she can get it over her knuckle. We had a plastic ring guard thing on the bottom but it kept falling off. We thought about having the little metal balls added to the bottom to keep in from rotating on her finger but that wouldn't solve the bending platinum problem. Soooo any suggestions or resources...my google-fu has failed me (all the sites I find seem to be about MAKING rings not keeping them from being bent).

I think you should go to the jeweler and return it.

This happened to my wife's ring because the bottom was very thin (it was an antique). What we ended up doing was getting it thickened, but we didn't make it round. We waited until it naturally bent into a flat angled shape and had it thickened in that shape.

As a side note I have the same knuckle issue myself - I got one of these, which works like a charm. It's very nice because it fits to the finger and doesn't have to go over the knuckle.

Some people just do that to rings, I think it gets flat because of the way the muscles pull on the bottom.
I had those little balls added to a ring that turns badly because it's top heavy, and I never wear it. They feel like someone poking nailheads into your finger. It seems to be one of those things that sounds better than it works out.

This happened to my platinum ring a couple of times. When I took it back to the jeweller to get it cleaned, they said it was nothing to worry about, and they fixed it on the spot.

This happens to all my rings, including the platinum one I had. It's just the ring conforming to the shape of her finger. I think you might want to do what true suggested (having the ring thickened), if anything.

Happens to my gold rings also. I usually find that the metal adapts into a shape that is perfect for me, so I leave it be. They are generally more comfortable after warping, and only look odd in the jewelry box.
