What are these people protesting?



I know they want to abolish slavery, but I don't know what slavery, or where. I was under the impression that France had abolished slavery quite some time ago.

If it helps, the photo was taken on 10 May 2006, in Toulouse.

Algeria, perhaps?

Also, depending on the exact nature of the protest, they could still be riled up about the CPE, but that should have died down since Villepin withdrew it.
