Words With Friends without the sensory nightmare.

Is there a Words With Friends-style ios/android app out there that is devoid of gimmicky clickbait cruft/animations/in-game currency? I just want to play Scrabble with my friends. I will pay to remove ads. No, I do not want to login with Facebook.

I pay The Pixie Pit $15 a year for unlimited games of real ungamified Scrabble and Superscrabble. It's very old school. No bells or whistles or ads or anything! Each time your opponent plays you get a emailed link to the current game board. I use Safari on my iPhone or iPad. Buying a friend a subscription as a gift is a good way to get them into it. It's nice keeping up to date via the little text box.

My friends and I play Lexulous. It is bare bones, no ad distractions--I can't remember if I paid for that or not. We are spread out in the USA and overseas. Works because we can play it in a mode where our turns are at our discretion.
