(UK Lake District) Things to do in Keswick this weekend

My Dad (74) and I (47) are going to Keswick from Saturday to Tuesday. What seasonal events / lesser-known places can you recommend.

We have been up the Lakes plenty of times before, been on the boat trips and to the !Pencil Museum! when I was little, gonna stock up on the Grasmere Gingerbread etc. Dad in particular used to do fairly serious mountaineering all over the place and still knows loads of pubs and bus routes, loves driving all over.

It's supposed to be rotten weather and Dad is no longer as mobile. We will be doing a couple short low-level walks, Booths, Grizedale forest, and probably the Britannia in Elterwater.

But are there any particular events on, hidden gems, smaller Christmas Markets or folky pub-nights or history/leftie/nature/animal/food related stuff??

("We", naming no names, are too cynical and grouchy for art/culcha these days.)

Grateful for any ideas!

Best answer: If you feel like driving, just outside of Ulverston is a gorgeous Buddhist meditation center (repurposed castle?) and on Sunday morning they have prayers for world peace.

Best answer: Your best bet is probably to ask in a local Facebook group.
