San Diego Mazda

Need a recommendation on a Mazda mechanic in San Diego.

I've owned Hondas for decades but recently bought a Mazda 3. I found my Honda mechanic using some of the online resources, but a similar search for Mazdas isn't finding anything that jumps out or sounds like a sure winner. Anyone have some real world suggestions, good or bad?

Since that is a very regionally-specific question, it might be good to ask it in a more regionally specific forum, such as Craigslist San Diego, LJ's San Diego community, or possibly finding a Mazda owner car club which might have such recommendations.

The San Diego Miata Club's web site maintains a list of local "yellow pages" links at this page. I used to be in club and the repair places I've heard mentioned were Allen's Wrench, and Dennstedt's. It's probably a good bet that these shops would do competent work on other Mazda vehicles.

Where are you?

One mechanic I trust is Robert's Auto Service, at Balboa and Mission Bay Drive near Pacific Beach. They are not Mazda-specific but are unfailingly honest, courteous, and knowledgable (at least, in my experience).

You may also want to look at Miata.net for Mazda mechanic recommendations.

There is a company in the San Diego area that makes short shifters, drop links, etc.

If i remember correctly he had a mazda5 or something.

He was very helpful to Subaru owners on our forums, maybe you could give him a call and see who he recommends for Mazda service... kartboy

It's not a mazda specific place, but i take my honda(s) there and i love their service. It's hard to find a mechanic you an trust, and i trust these guys. I've taken my (and my fiance's) car there about 4 times in the last two years from getting standard 90K maintainance to replacing the timing belt etc and it's all worked out well.
