Help me remember my friend

Is there any way to search my old messages for photos between me and another person? Mostly RCS (android to android for the past few years). Probably SMS too if you go back enough.

My oldest friend in the world died yesterday. We're compiling photos for a memorial and there is a great one of us when we were in kindergarten that I would love to include. I sent it to him long ago but the Google Messages app only goes back so far. Do those messages still exist or are they just gone? I've always thought of my messages as just an archive that builds but maybe it deletes everything after a certain point.

Check your Google Photos and see if they're backed up there. Mine has all sorts of photos pulled in from all sorts of things I had no idea were connected.

You may also be able to access your complete chat history by logging into Gmail on a PC instead of a phone or tablet, then opening Chat from within Gmail.
