Calling all macOS genii: I need rid of Sequoia's window tiling

macOS Sequoia has implemented native window tiling. It's broken a fundamental muscle memory for me and I need to remove it completely. But it doesn't want to go.

To switch tabs in any browser, I've always used the PgUp/PgDn keys, which on a non-numpad Macbook keyboard is [fn + ^ + up arrow]=PgUp and [fn + ^ + down arrow]=PgDn. Sequoia has overidden this keyboard shortcut in every app with the 'Move and Resize' sub-menu in Window. Now, switching tabs with this shortcut in Firefox also resizes the window so it takes up only the top or bottom half of the screen. Chrome doesn't have this problem because the Tab menu seems to intercept the keyboard shortcut. I would like Firefox to behave as Chrome does, because I've had the pgup/pgdn tab switching shortcut wired into my muscle memory for a decade or more. I need Firefox as well as Chrome for reasons (mainly manifest v2 reasons).

I've tried disabling all the tiling-related options in the Desktop and Dock menu, but the unwanted behaviour still persists. I need to either disable the tiling behaviour entirely, or reset the keyboard shortcut, but the tiling behaviour overrides every manual keyboard shortcut I've tried to add. Does anyone know a way I could have this shortcut switch tabs in Firefox without resizing the window as well? Or, is there an alternate keyboard shortcut to switch tabs which doesn't cause the browser to resize? Command+number for tabs 1-9 is about the only thing I've found, and I don't like it because it takes time and some of my limited brainpower to identify which tab will be switched to for any given number.

Haven’t installed Sequoia yet, but control-tab and control-shift-tab to switch between tabs is what I’ve been doing forever, maybe that would be a suitable substitute shortcut

The MacOS System Settings have a number of panels for managing keyboard shortcuts and modifier keys. I don't have Sequoia so I can't tell you specifics, but if you open Apple Menu => System Settings... and search for "Keyboard" you'll see many options for controlling the behavior of function keys and other modifier keys. There may be something in there that will do what you want.

Best answer: Start the System Settings.app, select Keyboard on the left, select Keyboard Shortcuts… button, select App Shortcuts on the left, select the "+" button, then Application = Firefox, Menu Title = Top, Keyboard Shortcut = control+option+up or whatever, just something different from fn+control+up. Repeat for "Bottom" shortcut. (The original shortcuts for Top/Bottom tiling can be found in the menu bar under Window > Move & Resize > Halves > Top / Bottom.)

Tab switching shortcut on Firefox will now not trigger the window tiling behavior.

CMD-{ and CMD-} will switch tabs left/right (or up/down in a application with vertical tabs like Messages) and has done so in OSX/macOS for the last 20 years. Most third-party applications also respect these shortcuts, though I do remember Slack being a notable exception.
