Eyebuydirect scam?

I had prescription sunglasses delivered to my door from eyebuydirect.com, with my correct address and name (no last name though), and I have never even heard of this company. Did the normal thing and checked credit cards, etc, nothing there of note. Is this still some kind of scam? I have no idea why someone would input my name and address for prescription glasses they could then not retrieve. I am hesitant to even contact the company in case there's some weirdness there...any ideas?

I don't know if you are being scammed, but the company is legit... at least in Canada. I've used them a few times with no issues.
I'd suggest contacting them.

I’ve bought frames from Eyebuydirect multiple times (shipped to the US) and it’s for sure a legitimate company and not sketchy at all. The only thing I’ve found remotely questionable is the back-and-forth email “are you sure? here’s a coupon!” customer service dance they require if you want to return something, which is a bit annoying but understandable. I’ve found their customer service is very good and responsive. I think contacting them to see what’s up is the way to go.

I’m guessing someone sent you a gag gift of funny glasses.

I have bought from eyebuydirect in the past (USA customer) without issue, though it's been years. AFAIK and on a quick Google, they appear to still be legit. I'd definitely contact customer service.

We buy from them multiple times a year, including two weeks ago. The company is not a scam. This is a weird thing to receive (and they won't want them back, I'm pretty sure, because they don't want to pay to ship them twice) for sure but whatever initiated this it wasn't them.

(this was me)

I’m guessing someone sent you a gag gift of funny glasses.

Uhhhh wut.

I tried them on, and while they may not be my exact prescription, they are eerily close. Could this mean somehow someone has my prescription details? I'm so weirded out by this. It seems like a high ticket item to do a brushing scam (thank you for that) with? Prescription sunglasses?

I guess I might contact the company but I'm inclined to just forget about it, I don't know if I want to go deeper with this?

(I did buy glasses online from another company maybe a year ago - could they have sold or compromised my details?)

Could it be a gift? Is it your old prescription converted to sunglasses? Did someone break your frame and try to make it up to you? Likely using old lenses?

I really don’t think there’s any reason to be freaking out about this, or any reason not to contact the company. It’s a real company, they are not somehow stealing your prescription info in order to manufacture glasses and trick you into buying them.

I'm not freaking out lol I'm asking a question on AskMe.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask about scams these days but that's my cue to leave, thanks

I wonder if someone close to you (parents or a sibling, maybe?) ordered these for themself and accidentally auto-filled your address into the shipping section? Is there anyone who has ordered stuff shipped to you in the past and could have saved your info into their browser? Google is constantly asking if I want to save addresses to use again, so I could see someone absent-mindedly ending up in that scenario.

Re: gag gift - I missed that they were your prescription! Without knowing the contents of the package, I was envisioning something funny/punny/endearing like rainbow sunnies or Disney-themed glasses or whatever. I could see a friend doing that for me!
