What fun things do you do with your NFC chips?

I bought 50 little cards so I can make playlists for my desk/shower/morning coffee and automatically prompt a grocery list when I’m next to the fridge. What other fun and unusual things can I do with NFC cards?

I've used them on the sides of appliances to start timers for things (laundry, things I cook on a regular basis) and by the front door to switch notification profiles when I enter/exit the house.

Our fridge has a lot of doctor's business cards under magnets for easy availability of their phone numbers. Perhaps we could move to higher tech.

This isn't automation related, but are you (or is anyone in your family) a Nintendo fan? I became the Cool Aunt by making my nephew all the amiibo he could ever want using my phone and a bunch of nfc coins (then getting carried away and making a bunch for myself too). It's a bit of a chore finding all the bin files for them, but there are archives out there with anything you could want.

It was a few phones ago, but I think it was NFC Tools? On an Android.

A sewist I follow, Minimalist Machinist, has a lot of sewing and clothing related NFC hacks as well as AuDHD supports such as prompting medication refills and reminders for emptying washing machines etc. Some is documented on Instagram (saved reels) as well as in more detail on their Patreon account .

Now that the NFC seed is planted in my head i am wondering how they could be used in the garden to track planting, watering / feeding and harvest yields.
