Wiireless Speaker Home Audio set-up

I want a setup that has wireless speakers and an amp that will accept my old phono/CD. Suggestions?

The rooms are small and fairly close. I'm not too concerned about BT range. Most BT amps that I see require wired speakers -- I don't want that.

Pro Audio brand has wireless speakers for Bluetooth, Airplay, and whole-house use. (Competitor to Sonos.) Some of the heftier models also have a built-in phono amp, which you may or may not need for your phono/cd hardware. This would let you stream playback of vinyl records to a whole-house setup if you wanted.

I'm afraid I don't have direct experience yet, though I have some on order. Good reviews. Budget in the higher end of consumer/prosumer level, not high audiophile range.

Response by poster: Correction: looks like I need wi-fi because BT won't do what I want. So, wireless speakers and compatible amp, or soundbar with analog inputs.

Sonos. Yes, they are pricey but worth it, and you can buy an amp to plug your older stuff into.

Wireless means batteries. Are you willing to change/charge batteries?

When you say "wireless" do you mean truly wireless (as in battery powered, totally untethered unless it's plugged in for recharging) or "wireless" in the sense that it plugs into the wall but does not require wires to carry the audio signal from your sources to the speakers?

Do you have an existing amp/speakers you're using with the phono/CD and your goal is to also send that audio wirelessly to other rooms, or are you looking to eliminate the existing amp/hardwired speakers and just have a box which transmits audio from your phono/CD to wireless speakers only?

Are you looking to use pairs of wireless speakers in stereo mode in a given room, or is a single speaker acceptable to you?

Without more details of your intended configuration, it's kind of hard to recommend anything, but I'll try anyway.

You could most likely accomplish what you want with a Sonos Port on the source end and (if you want a truly wireless scenario) either a single Sonos Move or a pair of them grouped Left and Right. You'd also need a phono preamp to boost the signal level of your turntable up to line level to feed into the Sonos port (unless your turntable already has a built in preamp or you're tapping into an existing stereo system which has an amp and line outputs. )

(Caveat: no experience w/ their wireless offerings, but I bought (wired) speakers from them, they're pretty nice. I consider them low-end audiophile, maybe?)

Does this mean wireless speakers, and hooking up your turntable etc. to an amp that's wirelessly connected to the speakers? Because even if you go with Sonos (which is what I would do) you'd need to run cables from your existing gear to the new amp that talks to the speakers. But if that's OK, then I'd do:

Sonos Amp
Some combination of their portable speakers shown here.

Response by poster: Thanks to all who've answered. Here's some detail:
I want to keep my phono/cd player, but not the amp & speakers. These will attach directly to the amp(I'm thinking) but need RCA connections.
I want wireless (as in "no wires") speakers. I have two rooms where I want speakers. One room is two speaker stereo, the other I can do with one speaker, but prefer two. This is why I'm now looking at wi-fi rather than Bluetooth.

Sonos is the simplest solution. They are a bit pricey, but totally worth it in my experience. Alas I don’t have their phono amp product (don’t have enough vinyl to justify it), so I can’t comment on that one, but we have several other Sonos products and they work amazingly well together. Such a good wireless speaker setup.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone. Sonos appears to be the answer. (Now I have to figure out how to pay for it.)
