How to see the other's location in Messages?!

My SO and I voluntarily share our location with each other and we both have iPhones. Yet when we're texting, I'm shown their photo and underneath that, their name, then what city and state they are in from the screen within Messages App. However, on their iPhone, they only see my photo and underneath, my name (a nickname they gave me on their contacts list). We want to change it so that both of us can see what State and City the other is in from within the Messages screen on our respective iPhones.

Here's what I see on my iPhone from within the Messages app (important info removed)
Their photo
Their name
Their location.

What they see is
My photo
My name (a nickname they gave me)

I'm on ATT, they are on Verizon. This is in the USA.

What do I need to do on my end to make them able to see the following:
My photo
My name (a nickname they gave me)
My location

When they tap on your photo, are they shown a map with your location marked? That would tell you whether they are receiving your location info.

If you have the latest OS you can open messages and hit the + sign next to the text window. if you don't see Location listed as an option, hit More. Tap Location and click Share and when it asks you for how long, choose Indefinitely, or, if you want to test to see if it looks like you want it to, choose An Hour and if you're cool with it, do it again and choose Indefinitely.
