New York public affairs/politics events - where are you? I'm desperate to find a good public affairs/politics club/organization that has events and an actual community.

I'm desperate to find a good public affairs/politics club/organization that has great events. In San Francisco there is a great organization called The Commonwealth Club (https://www.commonwealthclub.org/) that has interesting events and groups per age group you can join. I’ve been trying to find the equivalent out here and while there's the 92Y and the JCC, I want to find a more consistent local groups/salons where people meet, talk and it’s more of a community and not just hearing a speaker talk and everyone files out afterwards. I have nothing against political groups, but what's really nice with the Commonwealth Club is you learn more about topics you might not encounter, and you have a sense of community. I think that's where things like Soho House can be a good concept, and I'm not opposed to paying for access to a community. That said, would love it to be focused on public affairs, science, the arts, wellness, learning, etc. If there are good event newsletters to find these too I'm open to that.

I'm watching a Soho house debate right now, since I couldn't get to NYC today.
it's followed up by a social gathering and does bring people together to talk about the ideas.

Having watched the debate, I retract my recommendation. There was a LOT of misogynistic comments about the female debater, how her voice sounded, she was whining, etc. And the attendees seemed extremely inclined toward humorless libertarian-type, Great Barrington declaration, anti-vax sentiment.
I'd like to find something else closer to what you described.

There was definitely a (Henry) Georgist society when I left in 2014, but a quick Google isn’t showing them. Now he has his own school of social science on 38th St.???
