I want to use this melody but don't know what song it is. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I know it's a familiar tune but can't figure it out.

I learned it in camp as,
“ The other day
I met a bear
Up in the woods
A way up there
The other day I met a bear, up in the woods a way up there.”

The tale goes on to recount the story of our anonymous narrator who catches the eyes of said ursine, runs from it, is followed, jumps to catch a tree branch, misses it, but manges a remarkable and life-saving grab as gravity threatens a quick and unforgiving impact with ground and bear.

It's very similar to the scouting song I know as The Other Day I Met a Bear. Wikipedia entry on the song describes it as similar to Princess Pat.

I have to laugh, because while it is "The Other Day I Met a Bear," my first thought was "Adon Olam," because that's one of the many melody's my childhood synagogue used behind "Adon Olam" in the 1970s. (It's common for temples to use "popular" melodies to back different versions of some hymns sung in Hebrew.)

And I remember it from a 60s commercial for Hoffman's soda as "Sipping Hoffman's Through A Straw".
