Need a glider chair in Manhattan

Where in NYC can I test glider chairs? Preferably ones that come with an ottoman? Strong preference for Manhattan but willing to go to Long Island City or Brooklyn.

My baby was born at 36 weeks and I haven’t gotten a comfortable chair for nursing yet. The bed and couch are both suboptimal for breastfeeding and pumping. I’m pumping and offering the breast every two hours during the day but can stretch it to three to go try out a chair. I can spread this out over several days to try at different places.

Pottery barn and crate & barrel are not out of the budget, but they didn’t have any gliders as floor models when I stopped by in July.

I can’t emotionally handle the reality of having a thing that is uncomfortable delivered and then returning it. So I MUST be able to try in person. If it’s in Manhattan below 34th st, I could potentially bring the baby and see how we fit in it together, but that’s a bonus not a requirement.

It’s been a while since I’ve been there and they’re closed now so I can’t check, but I think Albee Baby has options.

Did you try Pottery Barn Kids? My experience (not in Manhattan) was that they had a bunch of gliders out but regular Pottery Barn didn't. You could also call ahead and see what's on the floor. The one in Manhattan is at 69th and 2nd it looks like.

For whatever it's worth, my experience was that the glider was nice for bedtime, but that it didn't make nursing more comfortable. I found an in-home visit from a lactation consultant (icblc) to be much more helpful in figuring out to comfortably position my baby in my existing space and with my existing blankets, pillows, etc. (Also, nursing in bed gets easier in a couple of weeks once they're old enough to side-lie, but that doesn't help you now). Sorry if this isn't helpful, I realize you're probably getting plenty of unsolicited advice right now.

Congratulations!

+1 to Pottery Barn Kids (UES), not the regular Pottery Barn in Chelsea.

Room and Board in Chelsea has a kids section. I would call/email ahead to see if they have any of their gliders on display. I actually emailed the store earlier this week to ask if a particular kid's item was on display and got a reply within five minutes, so they do read their email: chelsea@roomandboard.com.
