I need a good epub app for iOS

Short version: I need a flexible iOS app for epubs, available in Europe. Any suggestions?

Longer version: I just discovered that, at least in my area (Europe), I cannot download my go-to epub reader app, the marvelous Marvin 3. I still have it on my iPad mini, but I received a new iPad today and transferring from one to the other it did not update Marvin and won't let me update it, saying the app is not available in my region. I might be able to fix that when next in the US, but until then, what would you recommend?

I assume you've tried & rejected Apple's Books app? That's what I use for .epub files but I'd love to hear about alternatives.

Could you try VPN to another country?

Hypothetically, you can create a 2nd Apple ID with location set as the US, and buy apps from THAT account.

Response by poster: I tried the changing location/VPN to no avail, don't really want a 2nd Apple account. Meantime, I seem to have found what I'm looking for: Yomu

For what it’s worth I think Marvin might be discontinued. Last post on their Twitter was 2017 and I’m in the USA and the App Store says it’s not available in my area either.

Best answer: I use Kortext. Its got integration into most of the cloud drives as well which makes things easy.

Best answer: Yeah, Marvin is no longer available. I too am searching for something as good. Yomu is what I am using right now as a baseline stop gap. I am hoping someone is shameless and ask the original Marvin developer to take over the project. It is still, by a long shot, the best epub reader for iOS.

aaargh. well thanks for confirming that. I will try to keep Marvin 3 on my old iPad as long as possible I guess, and use Yomu on the new one. I looked at Kontext too and while I will still fiddle around with it my first impression is that it is a more academic tool, with library/institutional integration which is probably really nice for those with that kind of access but likely overkill if not. But it is a very slick product and I read a few pages with it and had no issues.

so thanks to all who answered!
