Home cooked meals, delivered in Seattle

Is there a service that will deliver something approximating a family meal to an address in Seattle? Ideally the recipient would get to choose from a menu of options, and the food would be delivered during the day to be (re)heated for dinner. Doesn't have to be super fancy, but should be good quality. At this time I'm looking for pre-cooked meals, not a box of ingredients with cooking instructions.

This is for a loved one who is unexpectedly bereaved of a household member. The person who died did most of the cooking, and the remaining household members are in the midst of their grief while also trying to figure out how to get dinner on the table. It would be a blessing to be able to get them some high quality meals in a box that they can warm up and enjoy.

I know there are a gazillion options like grubhub and take out food, but I'm hoping for something that feels more special and like family.

They live in the Capital Hill area, if that matters.

I've sent well-received care packages from Spoonful of Comfort, and the company offers gift cards.

Does CookUnity exist where you are? This may not be fancy enough, and has a bit of a lead time (you need to select meals over a week in advance, so it won’t solve the problem tomorrow), but my wife and I use them and like them. There’s also Factor, which I think is a similar concept, but I can’t vouch for them.

Maven Meals only delivers once a week, but the food is generally really delicious and it's a local Seattle-area business.

Westerly doesn't do family meals or menu selections, but the quality and variety is good, you just reheat, and they deliver twice a week for ultimate freshness.

We got Westerly for my in-laws for almost a year. The food is fresh and delicious with good variety. Vegetarian options, which were also delicious. A wide variety of options for how many meals/day/week to fine tune.

We used CookUnity while our kitchen was being remodeled (south of Seattle) and it way exceeded our expectations! Delicious and the site is easy to use.

Seconding Maven Meals! We use it to help relieve the pressure to meal prep and cook when things get too busy at our house.

Have you considered Meals on Wheels? It might be exactly the right thing if the bereaved person is over the age of sixty or disabled - and if not there is a private pay option for people under the age of sixty.

Have you considered calling the funeral home and asking if they can recommend a service? There may be a caterer who specializes in feeding bereaved families.

Amazing Food Co. absolutely lives up to the name. A gift certificate would be appreciated I’m sure. Their Marsala chicken is really delicious, highly recommended. They could do individually portioned meals or do some call ahead catering and have a bunch of choices to mix and match over a few days.

Dingfelders has family meals as well as grandma-on-the-go for by the pound options. Do not discount the healing power of Jewish food when it comes to grief. I went there recently after getting some extremely bad news and the soup and chopped liver was better than three months of therapy.

Factor is all over Youtube nowadays. You can often find discount codes mentioned on some channels, including Lehto's Law.

Response by poster: My siblings and I have given a gift of Westerly, and it was received with much appreciation. It will be really helpful as they get through this transition. Thanks for all the suggestions!
