There's a cake that's sold in the Italian bakeries in my town once a year, usually in the spring. It's a white cake with whipped cream and a cherry on top, and it's tied to a Catholic holiday. What is the name of this cake?

See also Cassatella di sant'Agata for the feast day of St Agatha (the cake is modeled after uh... champagne glasses.)

An Italian bakery in Providence, RI, called LaSalle Bakery sells shirts year round that have a winged zeppole (a la the Led Zeppelin album cover). They are amazing and I want one.

Those are zeppole. St. Joseph's Day is March 19. I asked where to find them twelve years ago.
