Help Me Find a Bag

I need a new work/professional type tote bag. Help me find something that meets my taste!

I've been carrying a black Goyard St Louis for a long, long time and I think it's time to retire the ole' gal. I'd rather not spend that much again so I'm trying to expand my horizons to similar items under $500.

So something like this-
*Tote - something at least 13x10x5 (the size of my last bag), maybe bigger
*I don't need any interior pockets and wouldn't want the interior subdivided.
*Made of leather or coated canvass
*Personalization options are a plus - monograms, stripes, etc
*Available in black and other colors

Best answer: Comes in right around $500, but I like the oversized double loop bag from Cuyana.
Minimal interior pockets (zip and slip on one side), not divided.
I like the placement of the outside pockets.
Meets your size, material, and color requirements and has monogram option.

Cuyana has other tote styles. Might also look at Dagne Dover or Lo and Sons. I have bags from both brands and like them both.

Best answer: Look at the Madewell Transport tote which comes in several variations.

Frye also (for the moment) has really lovely leather - some may be just a touch out of your price range (the Melissa Traveler on their site right now is $528), but their products are well-made and last forever.

Cuyana is a good option, too.

Best answer: The Von Holzhausen Large Shopper is great and $5 under your price limit.

It's neither leather nor coated canvas but the material is very sturdy, very lightweight and completely unfussy (you can get it wet, it's hard to scratch, etc). It will eventually start falling apart but mine took more than 5 years of near-daily use before it starting looking too sad to use for work (I still use it when I don't need to look super professional as it's still totally functional, the straps are just starting to look shreddy).

Best answer: The Amelie is coming up at $620 CAD for me, which I think is under $500 USD. Have it, love it

Best answer: Not canvas or (completely) leather, but perhaps something from Elvis & Kresse.
