What’s the significance of this Thai amulet?

A friend has a very old amulet and wants to know its meaning and how to best care for it.

A friend inherited an amulet pendant years ago, and has been trying unsuccessfully to learn more about it. Links to pics are below. All we know so far is that it’s Thai Buddhist and was passed down within a family. Some things we’re curious about: What is it? What are the shapes and what do they mean? What’s the best way to care for it? Any information would be helpful.

Here’s a list of Thai Buddhist temples in the US, in case you don’t find an answer here and it would be of use.

Thai culture is highly superstitious and there is a proliferation of these amulets in all shapes, sizes and materials. They seem to function as talismans for luck, protection, health, wealth etc.
