Do the games you play inside Facebook video calls actually work?

My niece and nephew love to play with the video effects and little games that are built into Facebook messenger chat, but the ones that require interaction often don't seem to work for me. Why not?

I realize that it isn't Facebook developing these apps so they may be a mixed bag in terms of working at all but more of the games seem to work for them on iPhone than work for me on Android but then they are children, so their ability to actually make things work is limited and I can't tell if the ones that don't work for them don't work at all or if they just don't know how they work.

Some of the games that don't require me to touch the screen seem to work, but anything that even requires that I tap the screen to start it doesn't seem to work. I've tried updating my messenger app, switching my phone orientation, and they still don't really work. Is there something I can do to fix this, or is it just shitty quality control?

To be clear, these are the games you play directly in a video chat that do things like mess up your face or rely on you opening your moth to play, not the instant games like Word Blitz that you play through Messenger but not while in a call with another person.

I'm Facebook agnostic, so I have no reason to believe this is the answer, but: when plug-in-type things don't work for me, it's sometimes because I have an ad-blocker, or a pi-hole, or something similar in the mix that's interrupting access to some back-end server or file.

Do you have anything like that in your setup? Does it ever work on cellular data even if it won't work on your home wi-fi?

Response by poster: I don't know what a pi-hole is, so I presume I don't have one of those.

I can try it on cellular data sometime and see if it makes a difference.
