Hello! Any recommendations for outdoor activities/food/drinks/museums/etc in Boulder [Aug 3-6] and Denver [Aug 7-10]? Difficulty level- no car but open to any public transport, rideshare, etc. Veggie friendly restaurants preferred. We already have the hotels booked and plan to go to the rockies game on Aug 9. We're looking for a combination of active and lazy! Thanks in advance!

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is an incredible space to visit. Great food and right on the river. It was built by 40 artisans in Tajikistan and shipped to Boulder to be constructed, as a gift from the mayor of Dushanbe to the city of Boulder.

Boulder's bus system is really pretty good and will get you just about anywhere.

The Boulder farmer's market is on Saturday and that can be fun to wander. The teahouse is right near there.

You can take busses to get to Chautauqua park and do some of the trails there. Or take bus towards Mt. Sanitas and hike that. It can get really hot so bring plenty of water. If you go to Chautauqua you won't be too far from the CU campus and you can catch an indoor show at Fiske Planetarium and visit the art museum and natural history museums (for free). Then go get a Buffs shirt in the bookstore in the union.

The teahouse, already mentioned, is a lovely place and if you're there you can then wander Pearl St and people watch or shop.

If it's so hot that you want to be in water, you could tube Boulder creek (I think there are rental places) or go to Scott Carpenter pool and swim laps, ride the slides. You can also get a guest pass for the rec center on campus and go ice skating.

Rayback is a nice place to get a beer and food truck eats.

By the way, a lot of public transport is free in August!

In Denver, I suggest visiting the Denver Art Museum (which has an impressive collection, and is in a really cool building), then walking through the Civic Center Park to the 16th Street Mall (and walking its length--about a mile). Once on the other end of the mall, you might drop by Union Station. That would be a good way to see some of the city center, without needing any transportation, after getting to the museum. Union Station is also very close to the Coors Field, where the Rockies play.

The Museum of Nature & Science is quite good too, and is located, together with the zoo, inside City Park. You could spend a good part of a day walking around in that park. Not far from there are the Botanic Gardens, which are highly recommended. From there you might drop by Cherry Creek for dinner.

Depending on your tastes, you might also check out Meow Wolf, the Dazzle jazz club, and the Clyfford Still Museum.
