Capri Pants for A Hard to Find Size

Petite Size 16 Capri Pants are surprisingly hard to find. Can you help me on this quest?

Hey, I told my mom that I’d help her find carpi pants for summer, but for whatever reason, it’s really hard to find her size. She’s a short 5 feet tall, and a US size 16 in pants. All of the petite capris that I can find online end at size 14. I’m a completely different body type, and as well versed in searching for petite sizes, and am also not sure if size 16 is plus or not. Can anyone help me find capri pants that’ll work for a hot summer? If style can come into this at all, my mom has a very relaxed causal boho look, so nothing to dressy or formal, although black is fine! It would also be awesome if the capris were loose around the calf, nothing skinny or fitted. Thanks in advance for your help!

Talbot's carries Plus Petite sizes, and has a good selection of capri and cropped pants.

Kohls has a bunch -- most of their petite sizes go up to 16 or 18. 16 is right on the border between plus and straight sizes - a 16 petite and a 14 plus may be pretty close to the same size so you really have to try things on or know what brands fit you in order to get something that works.

Seconding Kohls and don't go into a store where the pickings are slim. Order them online.

Came in to suggest Talbots as well. In my experience they are very consistent with sizing from season to season so it’s relatively straightforward to find a couple things that fit well and then order online fairly confidently in the future.

Much less consistent but also a lot less expensive, Woman Within has a lot of plus-petite options. Look carefully at the sizing charts but here are their petite crops.

I'm finding them on Macy's website too. Here is one example. What I'm finding is they might be sized with things like S/M/L/XL but if you look in the size chart, they say some of the larger sizes would fit a 16.

Depending on how relaxed and casual we're talking, she might have some luck searching under loungewear also.

J.Jill has a few options and their petite sizes go up to 20. Petites are limited in the store so I would recommend shopping online.

LL Bean calls them cropped and their petite sizes should go to 16.

Gloria Vanderbilt Wide Leg Crop or Amanda Crop are so excellent, flattering, and really inexpensive on ebay, and go up to 18

The older women of my family (short and tall) swear by Chicos for this reason.

I've been wearing various colors of The North Face Women's Aphrodite 2.0 Capri Pant (link) and love them. They are regular length, but you can easily adjust the bottom of the leg to fit.

Their size chart says a 16 is an XL, but I'd try the L instead. I buy the next smaller size than normal because they fit better and they are very adjustable in the waist. Available on Amazon as well.

Old Navy pants and jeans are pretty affordable and they have petite and plus sizes (usually the Old Navy printed size will be smaller so if she’s a 16 try an Old Navy 14). If you can’t find capris, note that getting pants hemmed to capri length probably costs about $15.
