Looking for recs for compassionate gynecologist in Toronto

I have to get a hysteroscopy in the near future. I don't have a family doctor and have been dealing with virtual walk-in clinics, who have a tendency to refer me to not so great clinics and specialists. I am absolutely terrified of medical professionals, and will need to see a gynecologist who is trauma informed, compassionate, and will be willing to sedate me for this procedure. Anybody able to recommend someone like that? Thank you.

I do not have a recommendation for you but I have received uniformly excellent gynecological care from the Bay Centre at Women's College Hospital. They may be able to provide a more specific referral for you: bcbc@wchospital.ca

I was going to say Women's College or Mount Sinai. I have experience with obstetrics at Mt Sinai and they were great (but my ob has moved to Women's College and is in administration now)

I had an otherwise awesome and compassionate gynaecologist insist that two Advil are sufficient to endure a uterine biopsy (that ended up causing the absolute worst pain I’ve ever experienced, won’t go into details but it really was the worst)…

I think that is just the standard of care, ie no gynaecologist will straight up offer it without a fight. In future I will insist on general anesthesia no matter how inconvenient the doctor makes it sound, and I think that’s probably what most women have to do.

Try Drs Levy and Jain at their clinic. I have seen Dr Levy and she is young but really lovely. I cannot speak for surgical interventions but the other care I’ve received there has been good!

I would also second going to the Bay Centre. They are affiliated with Women's College Hospital and offer excellent gynecological care. They were my primary gyne care in Toronto for several years and they were great. They also may have allied health care professionals, like social workers, who could help with anxiety.

I don't think they do major procedures like a hysterectomy, but they could definitely help refer you to a good doctor or program.

I had a hysterocopy a couple of months back. I took a T3 two hours before and (I think) Midol one hour before. The procedure was not as bad as I expected - I had a lot of anxiety about it. I had it done in Oakville at a clinic that specialises in it. I later had a d&c under sedation (my first ever use of general anesthetic) at the Milton hospital and my experience was excellent.

My gyno is Dr A Makhida in Milton and she has been compassionate and caring. I currently drive from four hours away to continue to see her. I strongly recommend her and the wait time to see her was remarkably fast.
