Beginner weightlifting with cues

Looking for beginner-level weightlifting videos of whole routines that include lots of cues for good form. I’d like to follow along with a workout that includes cues like “tuck your shoulder blades down and in, keep your palms facing forward” for every move, for the duration of the workout. Not a video about how to do a good squat, but rather someone doing the workout and giving lots of repetitive cues throughout.

I took a pilates class where the teacher went slowly and gave many many form cues, and it changed my life. Now looking for something similar for beginner weightlifting. When I watch or read an analysis of good squat form it just bounces off my brain and I'm helpless next time I go to work out. So looking for a beginner workout to follow along with that has millions of form cues in it. But, to make it more difficult, my only goal is to get much stronger and I don't want chatter about losing weight, getting a beach body, or becoming your best self. Just form cues and lifting! For an enthusiastic, ignorant beginner. Happy to pay for a subscription (or hear how to hire someone to do this virtually?)

Best answer: So, Casey Johnston's LIFTOFF: Couch to Barbell is what I'd recommend to anyone who wants to start lifting without weightloss bullmalarky tied up with it. Phase 1 has a "follow along" video.

I'm not sure it is 100% exactly what you are looking for, but I follow a LOT of lifting accounts and this is the closest thing, in spirit, to what you are asking for. She has a hugely great Instagram and a Discord community as well.

I've found Has Fit on YouTube to be really beginner friendly. Their weight lifting videos talk about form while you follow along. They also show you the beginner vs advanced versions of many of the forms.

The Peloton app will do this for you. There are several beginner strength programs and then bazillions of individual classes at all levels. There is never any weight loss or appearance talk, ever, but depending on the instructor they might praise you for showing up for yourself and whatnot. You can figure out who does this though and choose someone else.

Fitness Blender (which I always think of as Fitness Milkshake every time I try to remember it) is good at this for the most part. Here's one of their pilates videos, constant narration and cues. Lots of weight videos.

LIIFT 4 on Beachbody on Demand fits this perfectly

Here to suggest Megsquats (Youtube, Instagram, TikTok); she is very much into making weightlifting approachable.

She has a couple programs through her Strong Strong Friends site (Before the Barbell, Stronger by the Day) that might interest you! I think her main social media these days are Instagram stories and TikTok, but she has lots of content related to form, cues, etc., on all three platforms linked above.

She does release some nutrition related content and has a course or two on it, but I would not call it diet or weight loss focused. From what I've seen the courses are related to intuitive eating and macronutrients. AFAIK, her strength programs do not include any nutrition content.

Response by poster: Thanks for all these suggestions! Lots of good stuff out there! Casey is so impressive - lifting heavy weights and writing so thoughtfully about strength and body image.
