What is this?

What is this wood stand? I found it in a neighbors free pile. I think its for gardening/yard stuff, but my mom didn't recognize it after a lifetime of gardening.

Best answer: I built something similar as a wood rick, so I could store a few split logs close to hand.

Looks like it had pots on it, maybe it also had a trellis for climbing plants?

Best answer: I've also built very similar out of a pallet, to stack split wood on for use in bonfires

Best answer: Looks to me like someone built this to stack wood and keep it from tumbling to the side.

The dimensions look reasonable for holding a couple golf bags.

Best answer: What are the dimensions of it? It looks like it might be a wood corder, or half-corder. As in, if you stack it full of split wood cut to the width of the bottom, you have a set volume of wood. A cord s defined as 4' by 8' by 2'. So if the dimensions of that are 4x8, then that's what it is.

There are some images of various wood corders in this article about what is a cord of wood. The one at the top looks very similar to yours, even if it isn't pictured entirely.

Response by poster: It's about 4 ft wide, so a half cord. Makes sense we lived in Southern California so not a lot of backyard fires. In Seattle now, makes sense this would be put out by a neighbor.

Thanks all!
