Sources for well made and durable two-handle kitchen faucets?

I'm looking for well made and stylish (i.e. not low-grade stainless steel) kitchen faucets, ideally two-handle. In Canada, but Canadian vendors are in the nice-to-have category, not essential.

We're at about the midpoint of a self-directed and quite slow kitchen renovation -- all going reasonably well, thanks to the help of a very skilled friend who is essentially mentoring me. In the kitchen faucet category, we can't seem to find any we like at the local big box/renovation places. Everything seems to be single-handle pull-down, which neither of us like, or seems really cheap.

We don't want pull-down, or a sprayer -- just a counter-mounting (not wall-mounted) two-handles-and-a-faucet system, ideally that actually uses washers instead of proprietary cartridges, although I suspect that ship may have sailed long ago.

I don't want to spend stupid amounts of money, but if anyone knows of _____ that makes high quality kitchen faucets, we're looking.

Best answer: Go to a plumbing supply showroom, you'll be able to see and feel a much bigger selection. Or individual brand websites.

Last time I was at a plumbing showroom I was looking for bathroom faucets, but liked:
moen
Newport Brass ( expensive)
Hansgrohe
Grohe (different company)
Kohler
American Standard
Aquabrass
Santec
California Faucets
Dornbracht if you have huge piles of $

Some manufacturers have higher and lower ranges.

Best answer: Great list of brands by sepviva. In my experience plumbers also love and endorse Delta but I find their designs a little less stylish.

I always check this site before ordering a new brand: http://starcraftcustombuilders.com/sources.faucets2.htm
