I am curious about JVN hair products, especially for curly/dry hair. Do you have an experience with them? Or have a link to reliable reviews?

Response by poster: my hair is thin and easily weighed down, and very curly- looking for something lightweight.

Best answer: I haven't used JVN, but they're touting hemi-squalane, which the Ordinary has been using in a product for both skin and hair for a while now — and which gets good reviews. From a spin around the Web, it looks like the ingredient of the moment, but this review says it may weigh hair down.

If your hair is thin and curly, and if you're curious enough, you may want to just try a small sample. Or, if you want to go in different direction altogether, check out flax seed, which seems to be universally beloved by curly hair types.

I've gotten the best information on curly hair care from the Sciencey Hair Blog, which also has a Facebook page. Long-term, however, as a thin haired person with curlyish hair, I've found Ouidad's Advanced Climate Control® Heat and Humidity Gel to be one of the better ways to control it, though I do use Pure Gel Seed Flax, sometimes. It's actually almost too light.

Best answer: My friend has been raving about the JVN stuff, especially the air dry cream. I've just purchased them but haven't used them yet... She and I both have dry hair; hers is more curly and mine is more wavy.

Best answer: I'm back to say that I've now tried the air dry cream and like it a lot. It has less hold than the Shea Moisture Curl Cream I usually use, and feels light, but it's keeping my frizzies down for sure. Mr. BlahLaLa absconded with the hydrating shampoo & conditioner and reports that he's very satisfied.

Best answer: Late to the party and I’m glad you’re liking it! I have very curly, very fine hair (and not enough of it). I used Aveda leave-in conditioner & their Confixor / Flax Aloe gel forever. After reading up on silicones in hair products and how drying they are to already-drier curly hair, I wanted to switch away but never found anything acceptable for the weight, and especially hold factor—my fine curls were only staying fine with that good flaxy “crunch” once air-dried, if you know what I mean. (What is the “second-day curls” people talk about?! I can only fix hat hair with a shower. Or another hat.)

OMG I love the JVN stuff! I use the Nurture purple tube deep moisturizing mask on shampoo days, the regular Nurture purple pump conditioner otherwise, and the Air Dry cream. (Both conditioners I leave in.) One of the things I love about the Air Dry cream is that you really can use more of you need to and it doesn’t seem to get heavy or sticky. And my curls stay together better because they’re not parchingly dried out (we live in the desert so that’s extra good). Looking forward to trying the Shine Hair Drops and the shampoo next!

Response by poster: update: got the JVN air dry cream- it's great! Quite possibly the best hair product I've ever used- really cuts the frizz and adds shine without being "crunchy"/sticky at all, or adding too much weight. If it continues to not dry my hair out, will be awesome.
