Biometric Face matching - liveness detection
February 6, 2022 9:48 PM   Subscribe

How much per transaction is charged by companies providing software for face matching and liveness detection on your phone? The kind of checks where they match your live selfie photo to a drivers license pic.

Any links to price sheets or other evidence would be much appreciated.

Response by poster: Thanks @jimw that led me to great info. The $A.04 per 3D Id verification was what I was looking for. (Link)

I didn't even know this was a thing!

Response by poster: Hey McNutty - yeah, definitely a thing. It gets caught up in a lot of the "facial recognition" stuff that governments are doing, but is at least a little less nefarious, because it's only matching your face to your existing ID to prove it's you. Lots of fintech and crypto apps use it to verify your ID.

Thanks for asking this. I had never done it before, and then suddenly had to do it twice last week, and wondered the same thing.

Best answer: Note that many companies like Stripe use third parties to perform biometric face matching and liveness detection. Stripe, for example, uses Jumio, Trulioo, Microsoft Azure, and Global Data Consortium.

Some of these providers only have enterprise options, while some have retail options. Trulioo used to have a developer-friendly option but looks like they've gone back to hidden enterprise pricing. Here's starter pricing from Veriff.
