Twitter thread explaining the links between 'hard money' and racism.

Recently was linkwandering on Metafilter, and saw a long, (I believe) twitter thread explaining the historical links between the various past flavors of gold-standard, silver standard and other forms of currency restriction and various eugenics/'race purity' movements. I think it was around January 5th/6th.
I've been digging through my browser histories, twitter, and Metafilter since like maybe the seventh with no luck. I thought it was on this thread, or it have been one-or-two off from that.

Response by poster: Beautiful. Thank you.

Caveat: I'm not convinced that this thread really establishes what it thinks it does. I can well believe that crypto-currencies are the kind of thing that cranks (would-be fascists, would-be eugenicists, would-be supremacists etc) are likely to be keen on; but I'm not convinced that crypto-currencies are inextricably linked to those tendencies, or events in US history associated with those tendencies. In particular, I think it's a mistake to say that you can't understand crypto-currencies without knowing that history.

My take, and I don't disagree with you generally, is that people should understand why people asking for "sound money" has a very particular sound to some people, the same way that there may be some good arguments for "states rights," but an awful lot of them are also racist dog whistles.
