Memory Care resources in Duchess County NY or Eastern CT?

Trying to help a friend who's mother is having some rapid decline in the situation with her Alzheimers. They have had a great homecare person, but her mobility and continence issues are increasing, and after a trip to the emergency room, my friend and his elderly father are coming with the fact that they need a lot more help, and it might be time for assisted living. They're also looking into a visiting nurse service, so looking into those options too.

They are in Pawling, New York (Dutchess County), which is near Litchfield county in Connecticut, but also have an apartment in New York City.

Does anyone here have any good experiences with memory care, nursing homes and/or visiting nurse services in that area? Or around New York City?

Metafilter has been a miracle before, so figure it can't hurt asking.

Thanks, friends <3
I'll take any advice i can pass along

Response by poster: reaching out to local eldercare specialists, the local alzhiemers association, and an eldercare attorney are on our to-do list thanks to great metafilter advice in past threads, but happy for any other advice. Thanks again!

If New Haven County/Southern CT is a consideration, Masonicare at Ashlar Village in Wallingford CT is excellent. My aunt and uncle moved there when my uncle received a dementia diagnosis. They lived together in a condo there and went to onsite healthcare there, later received in-home help, and ultimately moved him to their memory care unit while my aunt remained in their condo. They have only had glowingly wonderful things to say about the staff, from doctors and nurses to the dining room workers and maintenance staff. Staff are really well trained around memory care in particular and working with elders in general. The onsite facilities were really important in their decision as my aunt has a chronic condition (for which she receives excellent daily in home nursing care currently) and this allowed her to visit my uncle daily once he moved to the memory care facility. Masonicare has several other locations throughout Connecticut, though I'm not familiar with those specifically.

Price is going to be a huge factor, FYI. I was contacted out to some facilities in the toniest parts of CT and don't have good recs, to be honest. MeMail me if you have particular ones to ask about.

They might want to start with the Dutchess County Office for the Aging if they haven't already been in touch with them.

There appear to be several assisted living facilities in the area and your friend should check them out. Friend's father may not need assisted living if his health is good enough. One thing to check on will be whether they can continue to live together in a facility: an aunt and uncle had to be in separate apartments because she needed memory care and he didn't, and it was crazy expensive.
