Anyone know a good eye surgeon in Massachusetts? (or nearby?)

This one is for my mom. She has a retinal tear that reopened and will probably require laser surgery, unless it's detached. This same eye had a tear two months ago, and the surgeon did not use adequate pain control. So, I'm looking for a, eye surgeon who is great about pain control and who's also good with recurring tears. Anyone have any recommendations? Blue Cross/Blue Shield is the insurance, and she's in western Massachusetts but willing to drive to cities like Boston, Hartford, Worcester for a better patient experience.

I have a lot of experience with this. First try Dr. Lawrence Jaeger in Keene, NH. I ve done laser with him and he's great. Also if you need retina surgery, then Dr. Nikil Batra at Dartmouth in Lebanon NH is the best.

Best answer: My husband has had multiple retinal tears (and finally a detached retina). He has only the best things to say about the doctor who has done all his laserings over the years:
Dr. Caroline Baumal (781) 237-6770
She has offices in Wellesley and Newton and at Tufts Medical. I don't know if your mom is elderly, but my husband has often remarked on how kind and patient Dr. Baumal is with seniors.

My partner highly recommends Dr. Christianson at Boston Medical Center, though it wasn't for retina stuff that they saw him.
