Where does Google Home get it's phone numbers from?

My wife and I have a Google Home in a few rooms in our house. Recently, I tried saying "Call [wife's name]'s cell phone". It called the wrong number. I'm trying to determine where it found that number.

After some investigation, I discovered the number it called was her old number from several years ago. I check my Google Contacts and my wife's Google Contacts and that number doesn't appear under my wife's name. I'm trying to figure out where Google Home could be finding that number. In case it matters, I have an iPhone and my wife used an iPhone until last week when she purchased an Android phone. Is there anywhere else I should check to find where this number is connected to my wife's name?

This Google support page says that the contact sources that Home can be accessed via:

Google Home App -> Your account (top right) -> "Manage your Google Account" -> People & sharing tab.

I checked mine and it apparently is getting contact data not just from your Google contacts, but also from "Contact info saved from interactions" and "Contact info from your devices". So it could be from anywhere really, if you've ever called the old number from a Google product or have saved it to one of your phone's contacts.

I think zixyer is right, google pulls your information from web forms which can often be ambiguous and not matching the format for other later information, so faulty information doesn't always get updated. It's easy enough to fix it manually.

Response by poster: How do I fix this? It appears that it isn't pulling from my contacts. I've tried deleted my wife's entry in both my Google Contacts and my iPhone contacts. If the data is being pulled from elsewhere, how do I go about correcting it?

I think you can fix this by going to the Google Home app and click the menu sequence from my comment above, and then turning off the contact sources other than Google Contacts.
