Best psych universities for cognitive, counseling and developmental

Can you help me list out the top universities for undergrad and graduate degrees in cognitive, developmental and counseling psychology.

I’m looking to make a list of undergrad courses that make up a bachelor’s degree in psychology (with concentrations in either cognitive, developmental or counseling as mentioned above). I would like that list to come from universities that are known to be top in that particular field - what courses would they consider to be required (and what would those course syllabuses (syllabi?) look like?)

Buried in that ask of course is which universities are considered top for that particular field?

Psych smart people thanks in advance!

Best answer: For “best” schools, this is going to depend a lot on what your goals and interests are within the field, and factors such as which professors are taking on students and have the funding available to do so. Rather than MeFites reinventing the wheel here, I suggest that you have a look at existing sources: Insider’s Guide to Graduate Programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and Graduate Study in Psychology, which is published yearly by the APA (I couldn’t find a link to the 2020 edition but one from 2019 or 2018 would likely still give you helpful information). These resources will also have information about the courses each program has as prerequisites.

Best answer: The top counseling psychology PhDs have generally and historically been considered to be the MOMM schools: Minnesota, Maryland, Ohio State (no longer an active program), and Missouri. I think the programs at Columbia and Wisconsin are very strong, too.
