What link, can you torrent, and where are you?

If you are watching on YouTube you can simply cast YouTube to your Roku or save the video them watch it the YouTube app on the Roku. Or if you are watching on any web based app check for a corresponding Roku app. If you are downloading via torrent or whatever you should be able to simply put them on a USB drive and plug it into the Roku. You may need to convert the file format, I haven't messed with torrents much in recent years, so I don't remember what file formats the Roku video player supports.

If you're torrenting, you can also set up a Plex server, put the files into the server, and then use the Plex app on the Roku to watch shows that way.

If you're watching through a streaming link, you'll need to do something like screen mirroring from your computer to your Roku. What kind of computer/operating system do you have right now?

Response by poster: argh. i'll try to answer!

i usually follow links on reddit for this show - i'm in the US, so it's not possible to stream it from an official site. right now, most of the links i can find are for rmega.nz. i used to just stream them on my laptop. i can torrent, sort of. everything tends to crash on this lappie, though.

If you are willing to spend a little bit of money (about $35) a Chromecast can do exactly what you want with minimal fuss. Once you get it set up you can use your laptop to stream a tab from a chrome browser directly to your tv. A lot of HTML5 video players will even optimize things for streaming with a chromecast if you go fullscreen . This has been my go to solution for streaming from non/semi-legit sites to the tv and I haven't really had any issues with it.

If you want to stick with your current hardware then I would start by trying to figure out if you can download the actual video files from mega.nz. There may be a download button in addition to the video player. If you are able to get the files then you can try using something like Plex as mentioned above. Your smart TV may also have the ability to play back video files from a USB drive. If you go this route and find that you need to have the files in a specific format then check out Handbrake which is a relatively straightforward tool for video conversion.
