Song about home

Help me find this song about home that I don't remember much about.

A few years ago, I heard an interview with a songwriter on NPR. It might have been on Fresh Air.

The songwriter was male, and I think the interview was promoting a new solo album, or for some reason I feel like it had a connection to a new musical or a movie soundtrack.

One song was about going home to a small town in the US, but now all the small towns look the same. The lyrics included names of chains, like Walmart, Applebee's, and so on.

I remember googling shortly afterwards and seeing a news article saying the release was delayed. And now I can't remember enough about it to Google it.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Best answer: Googling says it likely was Trey Anastasio of Phish. He wrote the score for the 2013 musical "Hands on a Hardbody." The song you're referring too is probably "Used to Be," which includes the following lyrics: There used to be a sign up saying "Glad You Came." / And every little town around was as different as its name. / Now everywhere you go, it all just looks the same. / Walmart, Walgreens, Wendy's, Applebee's
