8.5" x 11" alternative to Rhodia pads

I am in love with my spiral-bound micro-perf Rhodia notebook. However, it's A4 size, which means that it is just slightly off-size from all of my 8.5" x 11" office papers - just off by enough to drive me crazy. What alternatives can you recommend that offers the same quality of paper, but is in a size that matches American office supplies?

I believe Rhodia's paper is made by Clairefontaine and you can find a 8.5 x 11 spiral from them, but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same paper formulation. I also have a Black & Red 8.5 x 11 that I like with a similar smooth finish, but whiter than Rhodia.

You're in danger of falling down the Notebook Nerd Rabbit Hole, but you can also try searching for "notebook Tomoe River paper" and "letter-sized" or "8.5 x 11" to see what you can find. It won't be exactly the same as the Rhodia paper, but it's what all the fountain pen geeks like.

Or just embrace the A4 lifestyle and you'll soon have whole shelves of the European and Japanese stuff!

You probably want the Clairefontaine 8267. It's a letter-size wirebound notebook. Clairefontaine own Rhodia, and Clairefontaine's paper might be a smidge heavier and smoother than Rhodia.

But as troyer says: go ISO. Anything less is just … déclassé

Rhodia is coated paper, which is what makes it so smooth and non-absorbent (this is a plus for fountain pens, not so valuable for other kinds of writing implement). It's probably the coating that you like.

Clairefontaine makes several different kinds of paper. Their Triomphe stationery paper is coated, very heavy and very smooth -- so smooth that it can be challenging for some fountain pen nibs. Their notebook paper is not as heavy and smooth, but it is coated and somewhat similar to Rhodia.

Tomoe River I love as a fountain pen user, but it is extremely light weignt and I would not recommend it for a non-FP user.
