work-around for airpod pro's crap mic

dear apple enthusiasts with airpod pros, is there any way to enjoy airpod pros and have acceptable microphone quality for calls?

is there some secret to decent quality microphone audio, not amazing, just better than "timmy fell down the well" quality?

i switched from the original airpods to the new pros. i've since been getting complaints about my audibility on phone calls. using the voice memo app to check, my voice is barely there and garbled.

i am not a quiet speaker. i have a bass voice and normally can be heard. i have sideburns but nothing insanely dense.

tried:
-- turn noise cancellation off
-- exchange the airpod pros as defective
-- forget airpods, reset airpod case, re-pair
-- SPEAKING IN ALL CAPS

my extensive googling and reddit searching has found some people with the same
complaint, but no solutions that work.

so people of ask, have any of you had this problem and solved it or found a work around? i love the listening audio quality of these buds, and would be force the phone mic as input if that were possible.

phone: 11 pro, ios 13.3, airpod firmware 2b588

Yeah, I have the Pros, and it's not an issue. Yours are broken.

A buddy uses his for FT audio calls to me in Europe from San Francisco while he is driving places. The sound is so good I can’t tell he is driving and his voice is perfect. Sucks that you got two duds in a row but I think that’s what happened.

Yes, the Pros are too quiet when you’re trying to use your library voice. Yours aren’t defective. I don’t believe there is a solution but I’m hoping a firmware update improves it.
