Can you identify what kind of power cable I need?

I own a Samsung SyncMaster P2770 monitor, model code ls27efhkuf/za and I misplaced the power adaptor and cable during my recent move. Can you help me figure out what replacement part to order and where I can order one from? (Ideally in Canada.)

Some places seem to think it needs a 14V adaptor and others a 19V adaptor. Samsung's live chat was beyond useless and just referred me to a different Samsung website which had no information on replacement power adaptors at all. I don't need OEM parts if there's an off-brand replacement that will work.

Does it have any label on the back of the monitor? It should say what the input voltage is (whether it is 14V or 19V).

Nthing check the back. The manual says, "Since the standard voltage may differ from country to country, please check the label on the back of the product."

Once you know the voltage you ought to be good with a third party adapter. Here's one from Amazon that claims to be able to do the trick but you ought to be able to walk into any computer shop/Best Buy and get one that'll work.

Response by poster: Ah, it is labeled -- 14V. So that answers at least half of my question, now I just need to find a source.

Also check the connector type - 5.5mm barrel connectors, where the socket has a single recessed pin in the middle and is round, with core positive are fairly standard, but not universal by any means. There might be a polarity indicator on the back of the monitor as well (C-with-line for outside containing dot-with-line for inside if it is a barrel connector, marked + and -) and if you have any similarly shaped plugs on any other power supplies then you can see if the connector fits the hole - obviously while the supply is unplugged - and then measure the connector, ideally with a pair of callipers but you can probably just about eyeball it.

You'll also want the current rating (1A, 3A, whatever).

I have a different Samsung monitor and it has a barrel connector, from memory.

The slow route for power supplies is AliExpress - they're shipped from China, hence slow, and while there's not much of a guarantee on quality I've had good luck. In the US they're too cheap to attract the notice of customs, and in the UK you would also get away with stuff under I think £18; delivery is typically 4-6 weeks.

Amazon sell everything too, but double check you haven't just found another Chinese supplier with slow shipping and a higher price tag, which isn't uncommon with esoteric things.

I would go with this guy if you're ok using Amazon.
