What is the name of the American radio host sampled in "Time Zones" by Negativland? The one who repeatedly says "eleven."
Casey Casem, isn't it?

I haven't heard "Time Zones" for a few years, but I'm pretty certain it wasn't Casey Casem.

I thought it was Peter Jennings or some other known anchor. Hurm.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't him, but to me it always sounded like Jack Buck, the now-dead sports announcer (and father to Joe Buck, who has but a wisp of the talent his father had). What he'd be doing discussing times zones in the Soviet Union I don't know.

It sounds like Ted Koppel to me. I always assumed it was from Nightline or something.

I think kindall's on to something Ted Koppel.
"Car Bomb" is a track of unparalleled sound anarchy, blurring throbbing drum and bass, staccato guitar ticking and terrified vocals. And "Time Zones" turns an interview with Ted Koppel into a sci-fi, call and response masterpiece about the number of time zones in the Soviet Union (there are 11)."

Best answer: I'm told by Don Joyce of Negativland that it was Ray Breim.
"Eleven."
