What to do in Rome on Republic Day?

We will be in Rome, near Piazza de Popolo, on the Republic Day holiday (June 2). Will most things be closed? Is there anything special we should take advantage of? One of us is quite pregnant, so watching a parade in the sun is probably off the table.

I was there on Republic Day a few years back and discovered that the Presidential Palace opens its gardens to the public and it was lovely to roam through them.

You'll be near the Ara Pacis museum, which is a lovely small museum. I checked and it seems it is open then.
