Take me back to 2011

I am finally watching Game of Thrones, mostly for the first time, although I've read most of the books (not my cup of tea) and have not hid from spoilers whatsoever. I am looking for good supplementary podcasts from non book readers, so I can live vicariously through their surprise/shock/confusion. I am pretty much done with season 1, so it's fine if it doesn't start right at the beginning.

I'm enjoying Binge Mode, A Cast of Kings and RHAP, but those are all rewatches and/or book readers so there's no real surprise. I am looking for smart commentary, to an extent, but on the entertaining/funny side rather than serious/accurate.

The only supplmental GoT I've followed has been this youtubers series that started with this video. He watches a season 7 episode and tries to figure it out best he can with only the info from that episode. It proved popular and the series is basically him watching randomly selected episodes out of order while trying to piece together the overall narrative. It's fun to see when he's right or wrong in his guesses, plus he has amusing shorthand for different characters and plot elements.

You probably would be better off watching this once you've caught up a bit more, there are spoilers randomly throughout. However, the big moments people reacted to when it was new are interesting to see when he gets around to them out of order, sometimes having only known episodes after said event happened anyway.

I like Nerdette Recaps Game of Thrones with Peter Sagal, I think one out of the 3 has not read the books, scores high for self-deprecating type of funny.

Not a recommendation but I will say that Binge Mode Season 7 is them reacting in real time to new episodes, which is also enjoyable.

Edit to add: by "reacting in real time" i mean recording and releasing a podcast each week after a new episode. You might be able to find old episodes of their Twitter show Talk the Thrones which is them discussing an episode immediately after watching it.

GoT was never really GoT for me until I read all the AV Club recaps with their witty band of commenters.

A Cast of Kings is my regular, and from season 2 onwards it's same-week first-watch / very firmly no-spoilers. Part of the fun is how hard Joanna Robinson, the book-reader half of the duo, has to bite her tongue to avoid spoiling show-only David Chen and the rest of the audience.

(Their season 1 episodes were a rewatch that they went back and did later, with the "hey, what if David read the book this time?" gimmick, so are not particularly representative of the rest of their output.)
