This 3 year old fellow is my first cat ever! He's sweet and playful and curious. Rather than immediately hiding as I've heard most cats do upon coming home, he explored the entire apartment and then plopped himself down at my feet. He's an observer, a climber, and a lover. I've never named a pet before, please hope me! He came with the name Stevie from the shelter, which I don't hate, and I am toying with the name Jasper, but I'm not 100% sold.

Perhaps Wonder? Goes with Stevie and has a sense of the curious explorer.

Looks like a Pendragon to me (or maybe ballpoint dragon). Stevie C. Pendragon

He looks like a good Jasper to me! What a sweet boy ... you are both lucky.

Also ... that round toy with the white ball in it ... you can get a replacement ball that lights up when it rolls!

I had a cat named Jasper. I named him after the Canadian national park.

Jasper is a fine name for a cat.

Jasper.

This definitely looks like a Jaspery cat to me!

Or something Arthurian? He could be a Percival, or a Galahad. He's on a quest!

Aaaahhh I love him. Jasper is nice. Though I took my kitty's foster care name and parlayed it into a Shakespearean character name so if you wanted to do that with Stevie you get Stephano, the drunken butler from the Tempest (or the servant of Portia in Merchant, but drunken butler is funnier for a cat name).

Jasper is a totally good name. My next best idea is Neil Armstrong.

Also please know that the replacement ball mccxxiii mentioned scares the hell out of some cats (including mine) so don't toss out the regular ball if you get one of the light-up ones.

+ for Jasper. I also have to admit I watched Jasper play with that ball in the loop track about 6 times in a row.

You got a good one.

Lawd that is an adorable cat! Jasper suits him wonderfullly, though I will also toss out Mueller as good name for a being who hits the ground running and explores and observes everything.

How about Scout?

Or how about Mua, short for 'Oumuamua: the Hawaiian word for scout, as recently given to the alien solar sail first interstellar object to cross into the Solar System in 2017.

Oh he's gorgeous! I don't see him as Jasper, due to association with the red/yellow/ochre of the jasper mineral. So I lean more towards the Arthurian theme mentioned previously.

Failing that how about Conrad?

He looks really confident and dapper with those white socks. I am thinking of something totally overboard for a cat, like Oxford or Yates or Carrington. He also needs a bow tie.

OMG what a gorgeous tabbers!!

Steve was the name of my beloved cat with similar markings. I wish I could find a better picture. I've loved all my pets, but Steve was special. She was so Steve that she stayed Steve even after I found out she was a girl.

Anyway, your boy is so dapper in his little pinstriped suit! Jasper and Stevie are both great, but I'd also be tempted by Dapper Dan.

In one picture I see that that charming fellow has multicolor toe beans, with bright pink toe beans? What a handsome boy!

I think he is a Neville.

To me Jasper is a black cat name, but only because I have previously known a black cat called Jasper.

That cat is so confident and laid back. He is the King of Cool. "Marlon" works in that context, but then so does "Steve" (as in McQueen).

My very favoritest cat I've ever had was named Jasper Twinkletoes. He was a gray longhaired tabby with white feet like your cat. He also went by Mr Lovins since he was such a loving cat. I heartily endorse Jasper as a fine name.

FYI my cat has this exact same chill personality. My vet told me every once in a while they get a cat like this and they're wonderful. It's a special delight and you are very fortunate. Enjoy!

PS I also like Jasper
